Car and coffee events are getting more and more popular. This weekend we decide to head to St Albans with some fellow classic cars nuts for a mini classic car adventure to see who and what was there.
We all met at Classic Car Adventures HQ at 7am to get our vehicles clean and ready for the show. We set sail around 8am and joined the A331 then onto the M3. Both of these roads are quite long and flat so it was a great start to give the classics a blast and clear their lungs. It was around this time we got a call to say the event had been cancelled due to poor weather the night before. We pulled over to discuss our next move.
As we were all up and the cars were eager to be driven, we decided to head into Windsor for some late breakfast. We headed along A332 and what a road it is! Lovely and smooth and cutting through Windsor Great park either side of you. Such great scenery, a definite photo opportunity! We arrived in the town centre in no time and parked up quickly to Google where to park, cheaply might I add. Windsor is a big tourist spot and parking is pricey to say the least. £4.50 per hour in one place. We found a lovely car park next to the train station though which was £2 for the day (Sunday) perfect. Just as we were about to head off, we saw a classic Alfa pull in with 2 guys. Both shouted “were you meant to be going to St Albans?” we were told that there was another car show in slough later that morning and would we like to join. We politely declined as the pack was hungry so we opted for a Cote breakfast instead.
Refuelled and ready to roll we explored Windsor town and the castle. We stumbled across a fudge shop selling what we were told was the best fudge in the world. Free tasters all round then! Wow is all we could say. This stuff was incredible! Handmade on site by 2 business partners, you could see that this was a labour of love. We all bought some and it was served to us in a very nostalgic wrapping.
We set off from Windsor to make our way home. Today was only a short classic car adventure but what a fantastic morning. It’s funny how your day just seems all that much better when cruising around in a vintage car. Everywhere becomes another photo opportunity to snap the classics.
